Another New Poem

after Charles Wright

It will see the tomatoes on the kitchen counter.

It will give back for what it’s taken.

It will slip from time like goldenrod.

It will warn against the roots we rip out.

It will wander the pasture of language.

It will beat the hourglass with silence.

It will follow a cabbage intuition.

It will rid itself of the extravagant concerns of the world.

It will work itself into the unstuck joy.
