POEM
EMBRACING THE ETERNAL TRIANGLE
Mommy threw a teapot
exploding it on Daddy's head.
Then she got very mad when
she realized it was her best,
became moody and disconsolate
lost several stone
died a few months later.
Daddy joined the Merchant Marine
traveled to some atmospheric locations,
started sleeping with men.
Carried a knife for, protection.
Wrote us posthumous letters about
the wanderer's conditional illusions.
Even here in this small stoical city
we are overrun with them.
They are everywhere.
Colin James has a book of poems, Resisting Probability, from
Sagging Meniscus Press. He lives in Massachusetts.
